Advanced Home Assessment Program
The Advanced Home Assessment Program helps you understand and reduce your home’s vulnerability to wildfire. There are two ways to get started — choose the option that works best for you.
Option 1 — Do It Yourself with the App
Use the free FireSmart Begins at Home app to walk through a self-guided assessment of your property at your own pace. It covers the key areas of your home ignition zone and gives you personalized recommendations right on your phone.
Option 2 — Request a Professional Assessment
Want a deeper dive? A formally trained FireSmart assessor will visit your property alongside you, evaluate your home ignition zone in detail, and provide a comprehensive written report with prioritized, property-specific recommendations.
What the professional assessment covers
The professional assessment is conducted by a formally trained assessor who visits the property alongside you. Together, you review key areas within the home ignition zone — the critical space surrounding a home that most influences its susceptibility to wildfire.
A trained assessor will evaluate:
- Building materials and construction features
- Vegetation and landscaping within the home ignition zone
- Combustible storage and debris near the home
- Access and egress considerations
- Other site-specific risk factors
What you’ll receive:
Once the on-site assessment is complete, you’ll receive a comprehensive written report detailing the assessor’s findings and recommended next steps — prioritized and tailored specifically to your property.
